I must change the lower and upper radiator hoses of my '76 Vette. I don´t know if my car is an EARLY or LATE 1976 Corvette. The serial number of my car is # 439991. Can anyone help me? I must define if my car is EARLY or LATE for ordering the right hose. Thanks a lot!!!!!
I have a 76 as well. I replaced both upper and lower last winter. I did not know it made a difference? I say this because I ordered my hoses from Ecklers and there was no option for early or late model. The hoses I received fit perfect. I will say it was a PITA getting the lower one off. As many others have noted I recommend using a ravor knife and cutting a slot or two at the end of the hose. I did this at both ends and it made it alot easier getting it off. I don't recommended twisting and turning it with force. You can break the radiator connection.
Look at the bottom of the radiator under the car. If the radiator sits on two legs it's an early 76. If it sits on a plate that goes from one end to the other then it's a late 76.

Another Sign For Early Or Late Is: On Early The Upper Outlet Pipe Points To The Right. On Late :upper Outlet Points Straight To Rear. Be Sure To Get The Lower One With The Coil Spring In It.good Luck

The early '76 has a courtesy light on the rear view mirror. The late '76 has it on the T-bar. Also, the early '76 has a 6" long emblem on the back bumper, the late '76 has an 8" emblem. Plus your VIN number is near the end of the production run.
