Default Help me find a bellhousing

I was measuring the bolt pattern on my T10H tonight, and discovered something very odd...the second pattern isn't the Muncie design...I really don't know what it is. The main pattern is (I think) the old Ford "tall and narrow" standard. The second pattern is a rectangle, 8.5" hole spacing horizontally, 6.25" hole spacing vertically. The bearing retainer diameter is right around 5", and brushes the top of the secondary bolt pattern. Without some more measurements I can't be positive, but it doesn't look like the ears are designed in such a way that I could redrill it to the Muncie pattern.

Input shaft is right around 6 1/2" - 6 5/8".

I have a 14", 168-tooth flywheel that I'd like to use.

Anyone know where I might get such a beast, without ordering a $350 Lakewood scattershield?

I think a 403 bellhousing would be the correct one. If so I have one that came off a new 1970 LT1 crate engine.

I think JohnZ would know the answer for sure.

Look on ebay, I found a ton of bell housings there when Keisler was behind on manufacturing their repro's.

the 168t flywheel requires the 621, 444, 697(?) bell housing expect to pay a premium.....

agreed, 621 was the usual C3 bellhousing with the 14 inch 168 tooth flywheel
The 403 was normally used with the 12 3/4 inch 153 tooth flywheel and will not work with the larger flywheel

I wouldn't pay a premium for a 621 when Keisler sells reproduction pieces for $199.

I'd sell the 621 or 697 I have in a heartbeat for $199. Here's what is currently in the C3 for sale section: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1591650

The big issue here is the bolt pattern, not the flywheel diameter...

That's the eventual plan (or more likely, a T56). Right now the T10 is in hand, the TH350 has a small leak, and I don't want to screw around reconnecting the TH350's cooling system since I'm replacing the radiator.

I've seen some GM truck bellhousings with a huge mounting pad. I wonder if one of them would have enough meat to drill for one of the other bolt patterns...

Well, I've found some interesting info...it shouldn't be hard to convert the transmission to work with a good ol' regular Chebby bellhousing.

Anyone know if Ford and GM T10 bearing retainers are interchangable?
