Take your time when installing it.
On long pieces like door and decklid (if conv) I worked on short sections at a time. I testfitted it first to make sure I had the correct piece and it was oriented correctly.
If you follow the directions properly, the weatherstrip adhesive sticks very quickly when you put it on the car.
I used black 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I know in 72 they used yellow adhesive but I think NCRS judging allows for either (I have heard from those that do that). Also, if you are doing NCRS, it is acceptable and probably correct to have the adhesive smeared on in places. When they applied it at the factory they weren't very careful.
