Hey now... I had a 305 in my Vette until 4 months ago. Great motor and 23mpg! It was only 5hp less than the 49 state 350 for the 1980 model year. Now, I have it sitting in the crate that my GM crate 350 came in, because having a numbers matching 1980 means nothing to me.
My 305 had 70k on it and all trouble free miles! Now, if you want to talk smack about motors, wasnt it the 75 or 76 that had a wimpy 160 hp 350? I would take the 305 over that motor anyday!

A block is a block. It wasn't a Vette motor until they stamped the code on the pad. Depending on year, some heavy trucks have as good or better internals than Vettes-need a different cam and maybe heads. Caprice is not always bad either, in 88-89 the long block is same as an IROC with roller cam and all. Drive, enjoy.
careful what you wish for. I had a 68 and wanted the 327/300hp vette motor so I searched and found the perfect 327/300 vette motor. I had it rebuilt and put so much money into it I could have put a 350/350 crate motor in the car and had money in the bank (maybe not the bank but into tires & wheels).
After two years & less then 4000 miles the 30 plus year old parts that made it a "vette motor" broke down. I had the bottom end rebuilt again & it smoked until it warmed up. I pulled the 327 put a rebuilt 350 in it & sold the car.
It you have to have a vette motor buy a 350 short block from a member who put in a crate motor & rebuild it. Its only money..........
The numbers on my block say it's a 4-bolt out of a GMC pickup. No worries here. Although I do have a L98 block that'll be stroked out and stabbed later. But that's a whole other story.

Hey bud...How in the world could you put that color on your car and NOT be cool??? Plus being from DEEEETROIT(insert Masons voice) and if you made it thru your teen years in this most civil of metro areas should make you a charter member of the cool club!!!!
By the way ...check your pm's.....I have the need for chrome.
Also how did your photo shoot and clothing line turn out???
the clothing line is still under way... i just have my t-shirt line that will be released in feb. and i have a mens and ladies set...... i have 2 editions the :industrial: set and the :tech: set...... i also have some jewelry on the way that i designed/made/prototyped......
i'm still working with a few models for the ladies line..... once i find a seamstress then i can get the larger picture rolling..... most lines start off with t-shirts to get the name out there then they move up from there.....
ecko started in the rave scene and DADA started by selling hats with DADA on them...go figure....
i have a few detroit artist that are wearing some shirts and i plan on doing a mini bio on each of them to help crossmarket them and me.....
the vette is still undergoing motor issues with brackets/etc.... hoping to wrap it up soon so i can get it repainted to a metallic green or olive green like in the avatar....

My engine block decodes as an '82 2500-3500 series p/u block. It was in there when I bought the car. I figure that makes a 4-bolt block. Better than the L-48 that should have been there.
