bird cage advice
I have pretty much just finished bringing my 71 bb back to life and as I am now considerable more knowledgable about my car I have become a little concerned about the birdcage, I have not yet pulled the kick panels (mostly because I'm afraid of what I might find) but from what I can see with gentle pryin it would seem that there is at least "some" rust.
Obviously I will have to get it repaired properly one day. But what I want to know is, what are the consequences of bird cage rust? I am aware that it really depends on the extent of the rust. But what does it ultimately mean/do for the performance, safety and longevity of the car.
I am unbable to have it repaired properly for the next few years due to my financial situation and just want some ideas/advice as to what it means in the mean time.
many thanks in advance,
llew
