Default Hello Everybody, It's Been A While :)

Due to internet difficulties and password problems I haven't been on much lately. Now that I have the internet straightened around and my password problems cleared up, I'll hopefully be back on the forum a lot more frequently.

I've been out-and-about the past couple of months gather parts for my big block project. I am hoping to have the engine in the car and running by next spring (rebuild over the winter). The project is starting to take shape, so far I have:

Hooker Header Side Pipes (Black)
454 4 Speed Flywheel (Still Needs Re-Surfaced)
Big Block Short Style Water Pump
Pocket Ported The '73 454 Corvette Heads
Edelbrock Torker II Aluminum Intake (In The Process Of Porting)
Holley 850CFM DP Carburetor
Chrome Valve Covers (454 Embossed On Them)

I found a bare 454 2 bolt main block for $350 shipped to my door (needless to say that's the block that I'm getting). I have also decided to spend the extra money and get a scatter-proof bellhousing because I've grown kind of attached to my feet .

Everything is going nice and smooth thus far so I'm going to keep saving my money and spending it wisely. Could anyone give me an estimate on the horsepower and torque I'll be putting out?

454 (+.030)
Cast Crank & Rods
Hyperuetectic Pistons
Approximately (9.5 or 10:1 Compression Ratio)
Edelbrock Torker II Intake (Ported)
'73 Corvette 454 Heads (Pocket Ported & Polished)
2.06 Intake/ 1.72 Exhaust Valves
Comp Cams XE274 Cam Kit
Holley 850 Double Pumper
Hooker Header Side Pipes
Borg Warner Super T10 4 Speed

Does anyone know what kind of net horsepower it would be pushing?

You guys are great, I really missed you over the past couple of months. :chevy

Good to see you posting shawn. You still haven't updated your picture to show the side pipes, and now you have new ones?! Sounds like the Big Block project is still building...sounds like you are getting things done the right way. Take your time and make sure it's all clean and neat...spec. everything with a micrometer and/or vernial caliper to make sure rod bearings, caps, journals, valve guides, etc. are not going to let go. I'm sure you can get around 420HP from your setup...perhaps more since I'm not familiar with the cam specs.

Glad to see youre still around
The BB project of yours sounds great. I'm helping a neighbor put a 455 into his T/A and now I have a kind of BB envy.
My souped up L-48 isnt even in my car yet and I am thinking of a 454!!!. My wife will have me keel-hauled if she knew what I was thinking
Good luck and most of all have fun!

Wow, your Orange beast is going to be sweet with that 454! I also would like to see what it looks like with the sidepipes!

Cheers,

Stephen
