Depends on the mods u have on the engine....Most people here are fans of the Dynomax ceramic coated headers....Cost is about 215 bucks.Would solve the heat problem..I think u would get about as much performance with the original ram horns and a set of dynomax turbo mufflers or flowmaster delta 40's
Go with the Dynomax coated. Definitely worth the extra $$. Good basis for later mods. It never stops. Trus me.
Anyway, the coated headers are great. You can work around them within 10 minutes or so of shutting off the engine. Unfortunately, everything else is still hot. As for heat in the compartment, I have never broken 200 degrees even at 70+ mph in 110 degree temps (but I do have a great cooling system).
Anyway, here is a pic of mine:
If it's any consolation, when I put headers on my car it really cut down on the heat on the inside of the car. I am going to replace my 10 year old headers with the Dynomax coated when I get the engine back together. They did help the performance as well.
ive got the dynomax ceramicoats also going to true duals 2.5 inch and 2 chamber flowmasters...
ITS LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD!!
but me likey me likey!
:smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
make sure your carb is not too rich or too lean after u install the headers cuase that will cuase exhuast gases to be too @$!@! hot and the jet coating will cake off after 1 year of that crap. :nopity
Get the Dynomax coated headers. Fit & flow great, formerly Cyclone. Not the same as the cheap ones formerly Blackjack. Are you doing duals? You might want to see this. http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/Foru...ML/008082.html
You can also coat them yourself, just sandblast them and coat them in a moisture free environment, then bake them (or use a blowtorch) and the coating will turn into a hard ceramic layer. If you have moisture in the coating it'll stat to blister when heating (steam), I found out the hard way!!
Are the Dynomax Hedders hard to install? Would I be able to this without a lift? Also, are there brackets to reposition the A/C compressor or the alernator required? thanks

ok here's what i did. i ran rams horns with super turbo muffers on my 350 (95K miles). . i needed a little boost off the line (auto + 3.08 gears = bad 60 ft time). after i blew up the 350 i decided to swap to headers along with a 327 out of a camaro. took the A/C comp out and hid the lines. the headers i got are junk, but they work. i traded my friend a set for a set (and they fit) they fit tight, i believe they are dyno max for vettes. but i noticed a BIG difference on the bottom end power with the same intake and carb from the 350. when i swaped to a holley edelbrock pakage i could actually spin the tires from a dead stop.
Ganey,
Is the Cyclone Sonic Turbo now the Dynomax Super Turbo?
Also to Steve and anyone else with a 75 or later and true dual: did you have someone install the dual exhaust for you or was it a dyi job? Just curious as I'm planning on installing headers and true duals on my 79 in December. Should I ask around at shops to see if they will install the exhaust? If I install the headers myself, should I have the vette towed to a shop or just drive it with headers only if the shop is close to home?

Have not seen any Cyclone Sonic Turbos for awhile. Have you? At one time may have been at least very similar.
Yes, call around. Some of us have driven to a shop w/ open headers.

When I put my headers on my Mustang I drove it too the exhaust shop open for 30 miles. I'd suggest keeping the windows open though. If you tell a policeman that you're on the way to the muffler shop he'll most likely let you go unless you're in a neigborhood.
I just put the dynomax ceramic coated headers on my 81 and love them. They were a perfect fit with no modifications and real easy to install with just jack stands. I noticed a real improvement in power afterwards. I did get a new exhaust with two chamber flowmasters custom bent also. This was replacing the 2.5 in, 2.25in, 2.5 in, 2.25 in, pipes and two chamber flows. My old pipes were peiced and patched and the patches had patches. I did have to adjust the carb after but have noticable power improvement and would do it all over again if I had too. No regrets.
