Default L88 Airbox users

Question:

My L88 base is interfering with the carburetor acceleration cable. I bend the bracket slightly (45deg), to make some room for the base, but is there no elegant way to solve this?

I had to modify the throttle lever on my Holley Commmander 950 MPFI throttle body to fit under the drop base air cleaner base. Even then the base had to be dented up slightly to provide some additional clearance.

First I bent the bracket slighty for clearance but that messed up the pull angle on the cable and put more friction on an already stiff cable action. Later I found a 1/2 inch spacer to fit between the carb and the air cleaner base, that worked for my application. My hood and air box are aftermarket parts and may not have the same fit as stock so check closely before adding any spacer.
