Steering Column Question

i TRIED TO UP LOAD PICS CANT GET IT TO WORK ANY HOW
LOCK SHOES GOT MIXED UP DURING MOVING PARTS FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER , THEY ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT ONE HAS A GROVE ON THE BACK SIDEONE DOES NOT AND LENGTH MAY BE DIFFERENT BY A LITTLE BIT, THEY FIT IN THE TOP OF THE BEARING HOUSING THE TILT IS WORKING BUT I AM NOT SO SURE THEY ARENT SWITCHED AROUND
WITH OUT A PHOTO IT IS JIBBERISH UNLESS SOMEONE HAS DONE IT ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT I AM DESCRIBING

Okay, the first problem is your picture didn't work, and that's because you can't upload directly from your computer. Get the picture you want to upload on your computer's desktop, in a JPEG format, and no bigger than 500x500.

You can register for free. Once you do that, login to your new Photobucket account.
Click 'Browse.'
Select the image you want from your desktop
Click 'Upload.'
Once it's finished you can scroll down a little bit, and you'll see that image with three addresses under it. The bottom address of the three has the [IMG] tags. Click it once and it'll copy automatically.
Once you have copied it, come back to the post on this forum, and paste it. You'll see a [IMG] at the front of the link and a [/IMG] at the end of it. Submit the post and you'll see your image.

Bobby,
I can't find any mention of a right or left tilt shoe in my service manuals. So they most likely can be reinstalled without regard to position. Hopefully the pictures on this page from the service manual may help.

Those pictures were from one of the component service manuals that Saginaw created and sent around to all of their customers in the late 1960s and 70s. Service books were created for generic steering columns, steering gears, pumps, etc. The customers (Cadillac, Buick, American Motors, Chevrolet etc.) used what they wanted for their own service manuals. I liberated several Saginaw creations that are part of my collection before I retired.

I agree, that would take a long time, but image how much time it would save looking it all up. You could organize it into a specific system, and go right to where you need to. Plus the paged won't get grimey from garage use.
