Default speedometer cable removal

Just about got everything removed from the interior of my 77. How do you remove the cable from the back of the speedometer so I can remove the dash. Thanks

There is a "locking" tab thingy that surrounds the cable where it goes into the case. You need to press the tab towards the case while pulling out on the cable. It should slip right out, there's no screwing or anything involved. On a bench, this is incredibly easy - under a dash, it's really hard because you usually can't see, there is fungus falling in your face, and it's a real tight fit if you have big hands.

Hope this helps...

if you are removing it for the obvious reason...you are better off removing it from the transmission. It is just a bolt holding it in.

There are a couple steel tabs that hold the wiring harness to the cluster.

Got the drivers side dash out. Need the wiring diagram for the 77 interior so I can label the wires and organize the harness. Anyone out there got one they can post for the interior. I plan on buying one but am on a roll working on the interior and dont want to stop. Thanks

Won't help if you've got cruise control.

I hate it when obvious things hit you like a brick wall. I dont' know why I never thought of that, but it sure would make it easier to unclip the speedo cable if I could pull it out some first.
