hello i am converting my vette from a fixed rear window to a removable one like the 68-72 models and i need some help. i have purchased most of the parts involved. window (w. frame, and pins), weatherstrip, locks, pin guides and wedge plate. i want to know if this jop is possible to do without the ceiling panels or the lower window trim. i have heard that you can just cut the lower trim and that the locks can be just screwed into my original ceiling panels. please advise with answers or any advice on the process thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure it'll work a lot better if you cut out both the upper and lower trim sections. Here's a tip though, when you glue up the seal, put the window in and latch it. That'll ensure a proper fit, and you'll see any problems before the glue has cured.
There should be a lot of information on this in the archives. I recall seeing this several times (and even commented on it once) and in some of those posts they give very detailed instructions.
I diden't cut the lower trim at all and I don't see a reason to. The uppers would have to be cut out for the latches. Or find an early set of halo panels.
What they said. Either cut your panels and find a set of the '68 bezels (ZIP stopped carrying them, Dr. Rebuild might have them), or get a set of the 69-72 molded panels. The lower trim should be the same. Obviously, the plastic bezel around the window is tossed out.
I did not cut my lower panels and I am looking for upper panels, I hate to cut good ones. Although I think I saw on previous posts that there is trim you can install around the latches after you cut the panels. It looks like a small plastic trim to cover the rough edges. Is this factory?

BTW this is the best thing I did to mine!
I got some panels that have the cutouts, so I could offer mine up to someone wanting to cut theirs. Keep in mind that mine were wrapped in a red velor for about a decade, so they're covered in upholstery glue.

Yep, the trim is factory. 68s and maybe early 69s and straight-cut panels and an insert bezel. 69-72 used a halo panel that had the notch and step molded in.

I can't tell which these are. They look nice and are original, but I have no idea what year they are.
