Default drilling/tapping fiberglass

I haven't worked with fiberglass very much so I am not real familiar with its strengths. The brace (holes) that supports the hood in an upright position on my new hood doesn't match with the old. Is fiberglass strong enough to be drilled and tapped or should I drill it and use a Hilti type nut and cement it in place

You cannot tap fiberglass. It's just that..... fibers - they will shred. You need to glass in a backing plate, with a nut welded on, or tap the plate....

One more thought, don't just "glass" or epoxy in a nut. It will not hold the weight of the hood!

i would send it back and get a new one. only because if the mold is screwed up then i wouldnt want to risk it. or go to a local body shop and tell them your story, even better would be a corvette shop in your area.

Kinda figured it wouldn't be strong enough. A hilti type nut should work. Unfortunately sending back isn't an option. This hood will have to work until I get the original modified and painted. The reason I got the hood was for the cowl induction, now that I understand what that is I can easily modify the original, which has more clearance over the air cleaner
