Anyone know what causes the "sweating" of the vacuum hoses? There are 2 or 3 hoses on my 71' that look like this. It appears to be some kind of oil like substance. Hoses are only a couple years old.

It's due to temp change (moisture condensing) and the dress-up goop applied to the hose. When I first got my car I had the same thing. I used Meguiar's Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner to remove it and give it a natural look.

Thanks, I'll pick some up and give it try. Funny, I've never used any kind of dress up goop on these hoses, must have come from the supplier that way.

Who did you get the hoses from?

They aren't Dayco hoses, ours don't do that.
There are a couple of likely causes. 1 is the goop some people dress them with to keep 'em loking good on the shelf. No really necessary, but they do it anyway.
The other is the plasticizer oil is leaching out. This happens when some suppliers put WAY too much oil in the rubber compound to make it cheaper and easier to extrude.

I'll bet the hoses came from Korea or China. If it's oily, it's probably leaching out the oils.

Got them from ZIP. No question that it's oily. Only a couple of the hoses look like this and they are the same diameter. If I clean them with the suggested cleaner, will it just come back again?

Didn't come back on mine.....but I'm not sure about this talk of oil leaching out.....mine seemed to have had a substance on them similar to what some folks put on their tires to give them that wet look.
