Fitting new winsheild header molding. Needs some advice please.

Default Fitting new winsheild header molding. Needs some advice please.
Well I am experiencing what a lot of you have reported about replacement interior peices not fitting correctly. Below are 2 pics of what I am seeing. There is about a 1\2" gap between the chrome header and the molding. The little screws that are supposed to be used are pulling through the vinyl and not drawing the peice up closer. Ideas on how to remedy this issue?

You could try some small stainless steel washers.
