Air Connector on the Cat

My 81 has an Air Connector on the Catalytic Converter, and I was wondering what kind of bad things would happen if I disconnected it and put on a test pipe.

Bad things - none. You can either have a connection put on the test pipe to connect the air tube to, or you can let it vent to the air. Your engine controls will not know the difference. Will you gain performance? Depends on the condition of the catalytic converter that is there now. If it is a replacement high-flow cat, then likely not. Unless it is clogged. If it is a factory cat, then you may notice some small difference.
