Upon tightening all of the hoses on the steering gear I have leak closest to the driver's side wheel where there is a nut that looks like it has a washer and possibly a seal in front of that. If that is a seal and that is what is leaking does anyone know where I can get one. And also when you give the car acceleration the wheers turn to the right is there an adjustment?
The nut/washer is supposed to have a protective cap on it to keep the dirt out. The unit is called the power steering control valve/adapter. You can get a kit which has the seals in it.
The nut should be a "nyloc" (nylon lock) nut. It is used to set the control valve in the center of its range. If it is off one way or the other, the steering wheel will pull to one side all by itself.
Sounds like your valve needs a rebuild, an adjustment and some missing parts replaced.
Many vendors sell the kit.
ZIP, Mid America, Ecklers etc.
GM used to sell the kit.... don't know if they still do.
