I've been chasin a really anoying vibration in my Vette ever since I had the transmission / Engine rebuilt.
Last night I was under the car and I wiggled on the diff's Pinion and the trasmissions tail shaft. The pinion was tighter than, well really tight. The transmission had about .010 to .020" slop. It seemed like enough to cause the vibration.
I don't know what the specs should be but they do wiggle when you grap the universal and try moving it. I have seen this alot and it doesn't seem to cause a vibration
I had a problem like this in my 68 RS Camaro with a Turbo 400.
I took off the tail shaft and took it to a local tranny shop.
They pressed in a new brass bushing inside the tailshaft as well as a new rear seal and gave me a new case gasket for under $10.00.
This seemed to tighten it up a little more and the vibration that I had went away.
I also replaced the u-joints so I don't know if the entire problem was realted to the bushing.
