Holley carb install ?

I am replacing my Holley carb on my 71 LT-1. Should I use a 1/4 in. heat shield gasket with a standard gasket ? It only has the standard gasket on it now. If so does anyone know where to get one. Thanks for any help. Bob

Unless you're having heat problems or need some extra clearance no need to bother with the spacer/heat shield. If you're still interested, I'm sure you can find one at Jegs or Summit.

Thanks for the info. My car ran fine without it. I happened to see the insulator in the 71 assembly book, Just wondering if there was any advantages or disadvantages in installing one. Bob

I'm running an insulator. I think it helps keep the fuel from boiling over. I don't think there is a downside to using one.

I use them on all carbs.

I think LARS has them available.

I would use it. I used to have a Holley that would "whistle" when it got hot, until I put the insulator/spacer in.
