If it has a large **** on it, it's the wiper override switch. It should be in between the wiper door and headlight override switches (the switches wit hthe two vacuum hoses running into them).
Not sure about the 68, but the 72 has 2 pull switches - 1 for the headlight override and 1 for the wiper door override. There is a **** in the middle for turning off the wipers in the up position so the blades can be changed.
One of the ones on the far left is for resetting the trip odometer, the one next to it is a mystery to me.. As for the ones on the right. The one on the far right is for the headlight(s) and the one to the left of it should be for the wiper door override. My '69 has two headlight door overrides (one for each side) Not sure how different the '68 is.
One of the ***** is for a speed warning speedometer. I have a 69 and mine also has this particular speedo (they were only available in 67 {different speedo}, 68, and 69). There is an extra needle on the guage which is orange. The **** allows you to move the orange needle to a point on the speedometer, after which a buzzer will be audible (if it's working). I believe the buzzer is located behind the driver's side kickpanel (at least on a 69). It's a rare option, which isn't surprising because it's kind of a dumb option, but what is surprising is the speedos for it are VERY expensive. You turn the **** left or right like the trip odometer **** to adjust the speed. Congrats on finding a rare option on your Vette!
Oh, and after re-reading your post Grunty, one of your overrides should be for the headlight doors and one for the wiper door on your 69, unless someone re-routed the vacuum lines.
The switch on the left is pulled down to get the wiper door to open. The one on the right is for the headlight doors (also pull down to open). Someone correct me if I am wrong. My car is getting stripped now and I don't have access to it.
Like AC said and according to my 68 om, my pic shows the ***** on the left are speed set and trip reset. Then you will have the group of wiper overide rheostat, headlamp vacuum pull overide and wiper door vacuum pull overide.
My switch is obviously missing one of the vacuum overides as compared to the om. Something else to be fixed.
