Default Vin tag question

I am going to start my ws frame repairs. I will probably be replacing the uprights, or at least parts of them. If I have to remove the vin tag, where do you get the rosette rivets to reattach to the new upright?

I'd contact some local body shops to see what your state law is on this repair.

If the rivets are in good shape, just reuse them. Two possible ways that I have used. First, if you are removing the post in that area, just cut the post out. Once out, drive out the remaining nail left in the rivet out and reform the bottom of the rivet. Push that back through the hole and remove the plate. Then you can use another nail out of a doner rivet and pop it back on the new post. Another method is to cut the rivet under the plate and use epoxy to re-attach the plate and rivets.
