Default Looking for opinions on new diff gearing...

So planning out my new rear differential to match the engine and transmission and looking for opinions.
The engine is 383 from Jasper engines with 370hp/440ftlbs of torque.
The transmission is the TKO-500 from Keisler (1st=3.27:1; 5th=0.68:1).
I want performance but for it to be streetable. I am thinking 3.7's and *maybe* 3.9's but I think anything beyond that would be too much.

Opinions?
Thanks
Shane

I have the 3.70s in my car with the TKO500. I would stay with the 3.70s. I might even try the 3.55s if I had to do it over. The difference between the two is only about 5%. 1st gear is pretty short but I shift at 6500 so I'm dong 40+ on my 1to2 shift so it is not as bad as everyone thinks. Highway cruising I am at 2200 to 2400 cruising with traffic at around 70 mph. I like the 3.70 gears with this combo.

Thanks.

BTW, Where in Marlton do you live? My brother and his wife live right off of Main Street on Heritage Rd.

If you plan on 370's use Toms 373's they're a stronger gear. The 370 have 37/10 teeth the 373 is 41/11. Tom's are the only 373 vette gears that I'm aware of as well. I'm setting up both 373 and 355 for setup like yours now.

I'm on the other side of Rt70. I live in a development called Country Farms. I do know where Heritage Rd off Main St. is. I have lived here for 20 years so I pretty much have been around Marlton.

Mine are actually 3.73 gears!

I have a TKO 600 .64. I am changing from 2.72 to 3.55. Hope to have diff done by weekend so I can put car back to together. Replaced all bearing with Timken and CR seals.

I think I know where that is....I grew up in Willingboro and my entire family is still in South Jersey except for me. Mom is in Voorhees and Aunt/Cousin are still in Willingboro.

If you have any horsepower, I like short gears. A 4.11 or a 4.56. If your just a cruiser any 3 series gear would work. The lower number of the gear will allow a higher top speed. Personally I dont want to go a buck fifty, I prefer to be quicker.
