Default KRC pump questions

I posted questions about steeroids and hydraboost and got feedback to use a better pump like KRC.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1558683932

I see the KRC does not have a reservoir. Is this external and where does it mount? I have seen the aluminum one and pulley for about $200 but couldn't find a reservoir. So what is the complete setup needed and where is a good place to buy? My price was from lefthander.

Yes, you need a separate reservoir and lines. It mounts wherever you want to mount it, higher than the pump of course.

KRC, Sweet, Appleton, Stefs..you name it, they have a reservoir, some with a nifty cooler and filter setup integrated. you could also use a C4 reservoir (they have a divorced pump./reservoir also)

I got my stuff from stockcarproducts.

I run a KRC pump. They are light weight, compact, easy to mount and look trick. I bought a resovior with it but decided to cut it up and make something a little easier to mount.
This is the resovior with 2 return lines, one for the hydroboost and one for the steering box.

Most race type pumps are set up w/ remote reservoir.

CV Products sells a pump with a reservoir mounted to pump and they also sell that reservoir as a separate piece.

Most of the ct guys around here run remote ... a few are running the CV combo. www.cvproducts.com 800-448-1223

I think adapting an LT1 style power steering pump and remote reservoir will work. It's been said by a few members that the C4 pump held up just fine with the extra stress.

I'm runing a GM type 2 pump set at 900 PSI with a remote res. it came with the serp system. Here's a pic of the res. next to the alt, I mounted it on the front of the head, don't have a good one of the pump in the second pic you can see the top of the pump.

Very nice setup you have there Did I see a hydraboost also? If so how is the flow direction? ie pump out to steering out to hydra like so. I am going with a hydra and steeroids upgrade and wondering what flows where.

Hey Dave, yea I installed a Hydra-boost in my car and love it. The fluid should flow from the pump to the 18mm fitting on the HB than out the 16mm fitting on the HB to the steering gear. Than just tie the return lines from the HB and the steering gear together and back to the remote reservoir.

It's plumbed in series, the hydrobooster is 1st it has a hi press in and hi press out and a burp line back to the tank which gets T-ed with the return from the power steering back to the tank.

I purchase direct from manufacturers as it gets me access to thier engineers, KRC provided the external tank(bottom left) and provided the aluminum racing pump and an adaptor plate to Aviaid, who mounted the pump to the rear of the vintage Aviaid dry sump pump(gold just to the right of tank.) We also had new braided lines fabbed by a hydraulics company to assure pressure capabilities.
FYI, check out how water ditribution was engineered to all four corners of the heads, the return line actually pass thru the front cross member via a welded in 2 inch steel tube. In the upper wheel well you see the oil storage tank and the Triumph wiper motor
