Nice job

Won't be long now and there'll be the annual vette get together at the drive in west of San Jose. I've missed the last two and want to go this year. I thought it was in May.

As far as the tach drive HEI..I dont understand why you see the need to replace the original.
I had been running a spare '73 tach drive delco Dist with an Accel module and had Lars rebuild and recurve my original points Dist on his Sun machine and the car runs like a clock.

Any how, Very glad to hear you found a good carb rebuilder in your area

Several years ago when I had a Mechanic take a look at it, he said the Distributor was about shot, he didn't replace it because he could not get the part. While talking with him he was saying if it was his car he would upgrade to HEI. I did price a rebuilt Distributor, that seemed a bit expense at the time then and put it off and soon after the car basically stoped being used for many years. Keep in mind I really have had no Mechnical background working on cars until a couple month's ago (pretty sad considering I'm in my mid fortys). When I came onto this site to get advice about my carb problem I saw the group buy on the HEI Tach drive, seemed like a good deal so I jumped on it without really doing a lot of research one way or other. Seems some people like this route others not. In any case I certainly am not going to get rid of the old Distributor and will probably have it rebuilt at some point. Hoping maybe my Tach will start working again also.

And CA-Legal-Vette I'll keep an eye out for this event, although this car is no show piece by any means, I'd love to take a look at what others are doing with there cars.

Cheers
Jeff

Well I cant post the price that Lars charged me to rebuild my original Dist (he replaced just about everything , Main shaft, drive gear, bushings, spacers ect: were all shot.

I dint know what you paid for the new Dist but I hope it will work well for you...sounds like it should be fine ...just remember....keep the original stuff.

I rebuilt the top end on my '73 last fall for more HP and saved every part, nuts and bolts ect: that came from the factory just in case in maybe 20 years down the road someone will want to put it back to original condition.
