Over scavenging?
L48....ported stock heads...1 5/8 headers and 2 1/2 dual exhaust...and my gas mileage dropped about 4 mpg :confused: It runs like a stripped azz ape :smash: :smash: :smash: but....?
Could it be sucking intake gas through the valves into the exhaust now? What might the tell tale signs be? The pipes are not black and sooty....so now I'm comfussled. :confused: :confused:

I think it's sort of obivous, the car runs so much better you can't keep your foot out of the carb! :D

Have you rejetted the carb? Just cause it ain't black and sooty doesn't mean it's right. I've been reading quite a bit about exhaust lately and you definitely need to check the air/fuel ratio after installing more free flowing exhaust. Although, from what I gather, you would be more lean, but it still needs to be checked and set up properly for your new system.
