I believe my power door lock switch on the driver's side is bad. Both the pdl switches only lock the doors when you press the switches down. When you press up, it does nothing. A lot of times it will also blow the courtesy clock fuse. I believe that the passengers side power door lock switch works through the drivers side, right? If it does, then the passenger side switch probably isn't bad.
I looked, and pdl switches cost $50 from MidAmerica  . Is that high or normal for that switch? Where is the best place to buy one? What other Chevy model cars have the same switches?
Thanks!!!
Believe it or not, I am in the process of replacing my interior, and one thing that needs taken care of while I am in the process is my power door locks. They will lock them down, but will not raise them up. I found out that my passengers side switch is bad, so I called Ecklers, Mid America and Corvette Central and all are on back order, for who knows how long. So I called my Chevy Dealer and he had to order one and will be here in two days. Cost was $49.95. That was accetable, so I bought it. Good Luck. :yesnod:
It may not be your switch. I just replaced both switches (old ones were scratched up) with two new GM switches from the dealership. They worked fine, then all of the sudden they only will work when you push the switch down, not up. I found the problem to be in the wiring harness on the driver's side. The plug portion seems to have some wires that are loose, and have a lot of play in them. If I stick a screw driver behind the switch, it works perfectly, and will stay that way until you wiggle the switch wrong. I'm going to replace the harness with a new "pigtail" from Mid America.
Go to a junk yard. It may be a standard GM switch. Maybe. :smash:
Yes, 80-82 Buick Regal, Monte carlo etc. are the same switches. Says 'Lock' and everything on it. Just make sure all of the pins are on it for the plug :seeya
