got a 72 350 auto.thinking of pulling motor & trans and make a low 10.0 drag setup ,want 2 make sure she holds together , worried about rear. any help??? any tricks???thx
Easiest way is the Tom's bolt in IRS setup. It will held you with no issues.
Or you could go the solid axle route. many Super Stockers have....you can either use short arms in stock frame holes or install a 4 link or ladder bars.
The Heidt's 9" IRS could be made to work too///or you could fab up one from a 9" housing.
I built a Dana 60 from a Hemi car into an IRS assy with 3.5" halfshafts for mine. Lots of work...but differerent!!
If you go with the full setup with the spool, Tom's setup will be good to 7's in the 1/4 mile.. There are 2 or 3 Vettes with Tom's setup that are in the mid 8's right now and I don't think that either of them has broken one of Tom's setups yet... I'm getting 1.39 - 1.41 60' times and low 10's with my Tom's setup (hopefully 9's very soon) and I still run the posi.. The spool is a lot stronger than the posi..
