I don't have CC, but I am going to be fixing my stiff turn signal and pivot problems this spring. I am going to replace the switch, cam, pivot, horn contacts, etc. while I'm at it so I don't ever have to go in there again.
The 1980 steering column has the cruise control button on the end of the turn signal lever. I might be wrong, but this is how I remember it. The cruise wires have a connector plug just inside the steering column. It think that you need to disconnect the plug and then pull the lever straight out of the plastic pivot part inside the column housing.

It is easy. I have an 82 and I replaced my turn signal lever a couple of months ago. If you are not going back with a cruise control lever and just a standard lever then it should not take you more than 10 min.
Unplug the cruise control wire under the dash at the driverside floor board area. Remove the bottom plate of the steering column up by the steering wheel. The lever is held in by a snap spring. Pull hard on the lever and it should pop out. You will have to guide the wire for the cruise control up through the column when removing (its not hard, the connector will snag in a couple of places). Put the bottom plate back on and snap the new lever into place.
If your cruise control turn signal lever is in decent shape and you dont tear the wires up removing it. I would be interested in buying it from you. Let me know.

I am removing my cruise/turn singnal this weekend. It is in good shape but I do not want cruise control any more so I bought a new lever without the cruise option. If interested in the lever PM me.
