The front spoiler/ lower extension to the front of my vette came partially off while on the highway. Scraped it up real good, obviously. Put a nice fist-sized hole in the point on the center where it dragged.
Can you repair fiber-glass body parts? I assume that you can't just "bondo" it. What about painting it after the repair? The car is not an original color by the way.
Am I better off buying a new spoiler? Is this an easy job for a body shop? The work does not have to be perfect, as the car is not in mint condition. If at all possible, I would like to do the work myself.
Fiberglass is easily repaired. Urethane can be repaired, but is more difficult to do. Air dams are plastic or rubber, not fiberglass. What, exactly, hit the road?
I apologize, Mike. I explained the body part incorrectly. I am referring to the front spoiler/ lower extension.
You say this can be repaired easily? It attaches at two points to the radiator housing with bolts. The spoiler tore at these two points which is what allowed the piece to fall off. These two holes are additional to the fist-sized hole that I was describing at the front/ point of the "lower extension." Can these bolt holes be fixed and reinforced adequately to where I can re-use the piece?
