1981 Corvette carburetor help
I acquired a 81 Vette last year that is mostly stock with the exception of some fuel system rework. The catalytic converter was removed and a EdelBrock Performer intake and a Carter AFB 9635 carburetor was put on. I believe the carburetor is rated as 625 cfm. The carburetor is not running well (sputtering, and backfires on hard acceleration). Since I'm not to familiar with this aftermarket carburetor (the original Rochester carb was computer controlled), what would you guys recommend to fix this?
1) Rebuild and tune the Carter AFB
2) Get a new Holley Q-jet? And if so, what model?
3) Something else?
Any advice is appreciated.
