Just a little forum exaggeration in my first message -- it would take quite a fuel pump to implode a tank. Although, somebody on this forum has probably done it.
Nifty mount for that regulator Red73, where did you acquire that? I couldn't find anything even similiar in the Summit catalog. That is a clean setup.
The best way to have a fuel return line and an aftermarket fuel pump is to install a fuel filter that has the return outlet on the body of the fuel filter. At one time someone posted a pic of one they were using, I went to the auto parts store and saw many that had the return line from the filter. Good Luck.
Red73,
What do you use for the restriction off of the regulator? I have the Holley 803 and the two out ports are considered equal (ie. either could be used to feed the carb). So, how do you restrict the return line to keep decent fuel pressure to the carb?
You run the fuel return line off the fuel filter, A/C 432 which is a good size inline filter. Zip and Dr. Rebuild sell the fuel line kits to fit your application. They are exact replicas of originals. I can't imagine why you would plug the fuel /vapor return line. It serves a purpose by allowing unneeded fuel to go back to the tank instead of being pushed into the carb.
I've read that the hi-per big blocks running holley carbs in the late 60's had piston ring damage due to fuel seepage into intake when car had been turned off (no where for fuel under pressure to go).
