after getting my engine replaced (TWICE!) i went from the 180Hp to the 290HP, including edelbrock intake, carb and full exaust (headers, flow master...)
For the longest time My car was wayyyy slower then with my stock engine, no snap no quick response just slow and annoying. many told me it was a timing and carb setting issue.
a few days ago My accelerator cable broke. I got a new one and replaced it. Today weather was better so I took thew vette for a ride....IT WORKS GREAT!!! i feel like I gain 100HP (j/k) but seriously it's snappy it respond great it goes up in rpms ina blast from 2000 to 4000 it feels like a total different car. Could an old and maybe loosened by the years accelerator cable really be the cause for all this??

Why don't you try this experiment. Drive out for an ice cream or drink or something but only press the pedal half way to the floor. On the return trip, press the pedal all the way to the floor (normal driving style )
See if you notice any difference.
A bad or misadjusted cable could certainly have been the cause of poor performance and response.
wel now that the cabl is new yah I can defenetly feel a difference it might be because when I would floor the pedal the bad cabl would not open the carb all the way.

Make sure your new cable is pulling the carb all the way open. With the engine off, have someone mash the pedal to the floor, then make sure the carb is at wide open by trying to move the throttle manually in the open direction.
yes that was the problem. When press lightly on the pedal my car runs like it use to when I was full throttle. Now full throttle is...SOMETHNG ELSE!! It's hard to imaging that after spending so much money on my car what was making it run like crap was a simple acc. cable!!
Very common and one of the first things we tell you to check when there is a general complaint of, "engine seems to run ok but it's just not putting out the power I expected!"
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
You would be suprised how many don't have any idea if their carbs are getting full throttle because the cable was not adjusted. The guy who owns a dyno near me says that is one of the first things he checks when the customer looks a little disappointed with their HP numbers. He says some guys spend 5-10 grand on a motor and drive it around for a year or two with the throttle only at 3/4 full
Happen to me, but only for a couple of months. I was only getting about 3/4 throttle. It was like another 50-100 hp when I could actually kick in the back barrels....

Thats' one of the first things a tech should have checked when replacing the motor! You want to make sure the carb is opening all the way.
