I've read the many threads regarding replacing the factory clutch fan with an electric fan on my 1973 Corvette with ZZ383 crate. One option is to use dual SPAL 11 inch fans mounted directly on the radiator. However, I'm wondering if anyone has installed like an 18 inch (BeCool, Flexolite, etc) in the approximate location that the clutch fan was located. Do these electric fans need to be mounted directly on the radiator? The quandary I find myself with is removing the radiator cowling and installing the dual 11 inch fans or is there an alternate solution. Anyone with thoughts, comments, and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Over time that could pose problems. A small fan is not a huge deal, but a medium to large style will pull and vibrate and tug against the rows of each core until something breaks. I'm just saying be careful...they could be the downfall of the radiator later in it's life. No disrespect man.

By the time the radiator fails I will just by a new one. The car has seen around 7,000 miles in the 6 years I have owned it. Actually, right now I have started the disassembly to rebuild it again since it was flooded.

I used a 15" electric fan first and it did not keep it cool this summer at 90+ degrees out, I went to the twin Flex-Lite 12" fans with adjustable Themostat and worked awesome. They are super low profile mounted on the back of my radiator, they are pullers also. Here is the best pic I have I can take a better one from a different angle if you want.
