the money pit has been sitting for about 3 months. it has had a small leak before even after running it. looks to me now that it may have leaked all the transmission fluid. would this be a pan issue since it has been sitting. thanks again for any replies.

Your transmission holds about 10 quarts of fluid from if you include what's in the radiator and lines. I doubt you lost it all. Your whole garage floor would be covered.
Anyway, you need to be able to see where it's dripping from. Pull the car out of the garage, clean the floor, fill her up, take her for a spin, park her, get out and get on your belly, and watch for the drip. You can use where it falls on the floor as a reference point. Front? Back? Tailshaft? This is important for diagnosing where it's coming from.
thanks durango last time i checked it could be coming from a number of places. to the rack it goes. i just dont believe it could be coming from a line, to much on the floor to be a line. jmo.
Often a weak tensioned front pump seal will allow a fluid leak when the car sits for any length of time. If you fire it up and nothing is leaking, that could be your problem. There are 1 or 2 qts of fluid that sit above the centerline of the torque converter. Gravity sometimes forces a few drops out, then a syphon effect takes place.
