broke door handle

Default broke door handle

i have a 75 vette. my door handle came unscrewed. do i have to take the door panel off to screw it back in or can it be done from the outside? thanks in advance

If it just came unscrewed, then you can put it back on without removing the door panel. You'll have to use a screwdriver or something to hold the opener in the open position while you slide the handle onto the opener, then install the screw. It's kind of a pain, but not too bad.

However, you may find that the "rails" (for lack of a better term) on the opener that the handle slides onto have broken off. This leaves nothing for the handle to hold onto. If this is the case, you'll have to replace the entire inside opener assembly. I just did this on the driver's side in my '69. It's not a bad job, but it will require removal of the door panel.
