Hi guys,
i'll be starting work on my C3 soon, converting into a street legal road racing car. I'm looking for info on a roll cage. I guess there must be some of you out there who have cages. Could you send me some pics and info on where i can get them? Do they have to be built to spec or are there standard cage available on the market?
Thanks,
Jerry
go to ebay and get your self an OLDER copy of the Chevy Power book...make sure it has the Corvette chassis section in it.....just my opinion but the best cages are the ones custom bent and built on your car, not a kit.

i was thinking to lower the high of the roof...what about if i cut the whole top frame and replace with a round tube but lower, cutting also the higher part of the windshield to match the new frame high? the whole asembly would look like a kind of speedster vette...do you get what i mean? of course no more t-tops not rear glass...
for some comparisons on style and pricing. I have never used them, I only found them on the web while searching for roll bars myself.
Does anyone know anything about them?
I have one installed. It is a hoop with two backwards supports and a removable diagonal brace. Quality product. Ended up cutting off 2 inches off each end to get the hoop 1/16" from the top interior pieces. It is a good start for a full cage IMO.
Currently it is sufficient for the groups I race with. Check the rule books of the groups you will be racing with for requirements.
I have a 12 point that is bolted into the car. I welded standoffs to the frame that pass through the floor to flanges and then bolted the cage in. I did it this way so I could remove it if the cops or insurance company insisted that it comes out. Takes me about 15 minutes to remove.
I could also keep the bars really tight to the interior, tac weld them in place and then remove for finish welding.
My cage is NOT LEGAL anywhere but it also is an extremely good fit, hardly intrudes on the interior and from the outside you can hardly detect it.
Legal or not I feel it is alot safer then running without.
I would buy a tube bender and make my own. If you take the time to calibrate any tube bender you get you can get 1/8th accuracy in your bends Calibration is the answer for accuracy. I Mig weld everything.
