Can anyone tell me what is going on? The two windows have seized to operate simultaneously, I move the window switches up and down and the windows donot move, is there a fuse somewhere or in line that I need to check.
I checked the fuse box but there is not a fuse for the windows and all the fuses ar good.
If it is like the 73, there is a circuit breaker between the horn relay terminal (where the power for the windows comes from) and the electric windows relay. When I put the electric windows in my car I left the relay out but I did put in a circuit breaker. I don't know where the circuit breaker is located physically. That is likely where your problem is.
Re: Windows, Whats is going on!!!! (Jimmy Shepherd)
Jimmy's right... If the gauges don't work there's probably a blown fuse and you just didn't see it. If the gauges do work, I'd check the relay. On a 76, it's located inside the shift console, bolted to a bracket on the driver's side, near the front of the console. If the fuse and relay are good, I'd start checking the continuity of the circuit.
Villare,
I just went through this two weeks ago. In my 78 there is a windows relay located under the center console on the drivers side. It has two connectors attached to it. One is pink and black. The other is orange. The pink and black is the power side from your fuse block. (Here's the tricky part) It also travels through the key and light warning buzzer that's pugged in next to the fuse box. If that circuit in the buzzer goes out your windows won't work.
The relay in the console is cheap and easy to replace. Start there. $14.00 at GM. If that doesn't get your windows going check to see if you have 12 volts coming through that pink and black wire. You can test the windows with a jumper from the fuse block to the relay connector. Good Luck!
