I am having a tough time with the Blower installation on the 383 small block Chevy in my '72 Vette. The crank pulley only has 2 grooves and Weiand says not to run one with 3. The alternator lines up with one groove and the A/C lines up with the other but the belt won't clear the idler pulley bracket on the front of the blower. There is a kit from March to convert it to serpintine but it is about $1200 plus a new compressor, water pump and power steering pump. Has anyone been down this road before. I am sooooooo anxious to get it back on the road but I keep hitting these little brick walls.
Best one so far was the Weiand Team G water pump 9220 for the 71 to 84 Corvette that don't even come close to fitting... that was a real joke... ha ha ha I'm not laughing.....
I don't agree with the way the kit comes. I don't like the accessory drive pulleys against the harmonic balancer. This puts the accessories too tight to the motor and then they need to be moved off to the side.
I run a specail dual accessory drive pulley INFRONT of the lower belt drive. I mount this pulley to the front of the blower pulley.
This allows the alternator and power steering pump to be mount out front of the motor and down low, very short belts.
This is not an option from the blower companies. I made them myself.
Panchop I believe got my spare, he might part with it???
This is a poor shot but it shows how I cleared everything
