Are the included head gaskets ok for a 383 with alu heads or should I get different head gaskets ? I heard good things about the Perma Torque gaskets, not sure if these are the ones in the kit ???
Thanks, I'll call the seller tomorrow and ask what # gaskets these are - as long as they're fine for aluminum heads I guess it doesn't matter what you use
I think I read that these PermaTorque gaskets don't need to be re-torqued (well, that's why they call them "perma torque" I assume)....
At $110 I might better buy the gaskets separately.....
it really does matter which gaskets you us. Some are thicker or thinner than others and will change your Compression and clearences with the pistons and valves and heads. They also have to be matched to the bore size. It would be advisable to check the specs you need with your heads and pistons and cam ( for valve clearence) with the head manufacturer. The cost of different gaskets could be very small to compare with rebuilding the engine a lot sooner than you planned on.
