Default Vacuum System Problem

I have a 69 427/390 and have been experiencing a vacuum system problem. Both my wiper door and headlights work fine (with interior switches) when I start the car and for a period of about 45 minutes to an hour. After this time, one headlight sometimes goes up and then I loose control of the headlights with the light switch. When I turn the car off the wiper door sometimes opens and stays open. If I let the car sit for a few hours and then restart, everything works fine with the switches in the car. Then after some time, the same problem again.

Any ideas where to trouble shoot first?

Thats a rather strange one. I dont think I have ever run across it before. Sounds like you are loosing vacuum somewhere and it is heat related. I would look around any component that may be exposed to engine heat. Several lines and the wiper vacuum devices are in that area.

Sounds liike the vacuum check valve is the culprit. I would also change the vacuum filter which is inline to it. On my 71 they are located on the top drivers side of the engine. Try this link for vacuum hose troubleshooting. http://www.corvette-101.com/
