I like mine. I have had a set on my Vette for a while now and I like them.
I don't think they are produced anymore though are they? I seem to remember them being discontinued.
They're definitely being produced as I talked to GY yesterday. They recommend 3 different sizes, the biggest being 235/70/15. I just want a set that looks (sizewise) and handles like orig. equip.
I have 255/60R15 on back and will be getting the same soon to put on front. I love them and they look good with white lettering out.
My 79 has 255/60R15 all around and they look and perform well. I tried to buy an extra set two months ago and they were not available. It is good to know they are being made again.
go to tirerack, they have write ups and reviews on most tires. Good prices also. Think they are a sponsoring vendor also. I have 255/60 on my 79. Stock size was 225 I think. I went with Yokohamas however based on reviews from tirerack.com

I bought Yokohamas for my Charger. They were great looking tires with all good reviews.
These are P235/R60-15
When I next buy tires I will be getting a bigger rim and an over all bigger diameter. I don't think they fill enough of the well.
The stock size for the 76 was the equivalent of a 225/70R15. The 255/60R15 was an option on some of the later years. The 255 is approximately the same diameter (to retain the proper speedo calculations), but is wider. The 235/60R15 is a shorter (smaller diameter) tire, and will affect your gear ratio and speedometer.
Warning on the 255: Because of its extra width, you will want to make sure that it doesn't rub, especially if your suspension has some age. I have seen it rub on a 76.

Say someone upgrades to 16" what tire size would be best to retain an accurate speedo? Nice and wide but will fit without modification?

The closest match in a Goodyear will probably be a 235/60R16. That is almost identical in height to a 225/70R15. You can get the Eagle GT-HR, which is a directional tire.

I bought Yoko's from Tire Rack for the same reason a few years ago: good reviews and a little lower priced than others. I really like the way they handle and they are quiet too. I don't want any road nice to interfer with that nice sound of a 350 HO crate with headers and true dual exhaust.
I have the 255 60R 15's all around on my 80. I really like them after 20K miles and no obvious wear. They're wider than the base 225 70R 15's, but only about 1/4" lower in height, so they fill out the wheel wells nicely. But you will want to make sure they fit on early C3's.
Eagle GTII's are available in OEM sizes. The link below is for 78 - 82 aluminum rims. They might rub the inner fenders on earlier years. The Eagle GTII is available in 235/70/15, but the Eagle RSA is available in the same size and carries a higher speed rating. The RSA is not available in the 255/60/15.
Got them on my 82CE 255/60 no rub and much better than the BFG's it had when I bought the car and the BFG's were new and the same size.Still have them out back in the shed.I had them mounted on a set of 8" rallys I have.Wish they would fit my Ford pickup!!!
If you refuse to go with any decent handling tires just save your money and get Cooper Cobra GTs in either 225-70-15 or 255-60-15 and be done with it. They come in Raised White Letter and are overall decent tires.
