They're awsome lots lighter for less unsprung weight, and AL dissipates heat faster than iron. Sure they cost more but if you're doing any type of comp. or even just like some spirited driving they are definatly worth it.

Have 'em Wilwood aluminum calipers on the front and back of mine with bigger rotors...love 'em.

You may want to check with Kieth at Corvette Engineering, he sell's some pretty slick kits for Wilwoods for the C3.

Eeek!
Thats one lightweight rotor!

Vented is recommended for the street / track except the drag racing track where you only have to stop once.

We have a short term solution for rotors and are working on better hats.

But to answer the OP's question;
Aluminum can be better. The bigger question usually is better in what way??

Stock is cheaper and usually good enough.
Aluminum is lighter, more rigid, cooler, COOLer...

Who makes bigger rotors for the C3? Have not been able to find any.

Baer Racing is coming out with a kit from their Track line up. I spoke to them a couple weeks ago and they said they were in final development.

It will not make your Corvette any faster, they cost a lot of money, and you probably do not need them. Sounds like a real good reason to get em to me. Vegas

Sure it will, same reason as why people choose aluminum heads: weight saving. The question is: how much weight does one actually save?

By the way: I too have no idea what the 'hat' is.

This is a Hat.
It's a universal hat. I am making adapters to get them to fit on Vettes untill I get custom hats made.
I can get 13" rotors make to bolt to them and then also supply caliper kits that work.

As far as making your car faster, of course they do. they are lighter. Lighter is faster.

Stock calipers are 13.5 lbs, the Laguna is 4.5 lbs.

Stock rotors are 18lbs, using aluminum hats they are 11 lbs, And THAT is both unsprung and rotating mass...

So with a full brake kit upgrade we're talking 64 lbs.

I would think taking 16lbs off of each wheel would give a noticeable improvement in how light the car feels on it's feet traveling over bumpy surfaces.

Between going to SSBC aluminum calipers and VBP aluminum hubs, I lost 10 lbs at each rim. That has to help in handling since that's all unsprung weight. And as an added bonus, the system has been on the car now for 4+ years, and absolutely NO leaks even after sitting all winter .
