Want to add a filter between the pump and carb on my '81. I know to stay away from the push-on rubber hose style. So what works? cutting the metal fuel line and then flaring the ends with -10AN fittings? Or is there a better method....braided hose with AN fittings?
lars has written a paper on that very topic. I followed his instructions and bent my own fuel line and now use an inline fuel filter that I believe was original equipment on 1985 corvettes. The paper is around somewhere. One potential problem is I think a fuel line part# that he recommends using is now discontinued.
GF481, looks like this:
except I think GM went and changed that part# too!!
Here are a couple of choices for -6an
Have washable filters in 10 microns or 40 microns
Jegs even has similar that takes the oem qjet paper filter.
You can use your present 3/8 steel tube line and use either 3/8" JIC tube nuts (shown) or -6an nuts.
Steel line is better and cheaper than braided hose.
