Default need help identifying

We (me) just bought a 76 L82 for my son.

I am trying to determine if the engine is the right one for the car.

I also need to find the model/serial for the carb so I can get a rebuild kit.

The numbers I have found on the block are :

in the rear on the drivers side 29 GM 397001

front on the passenger side V0104CKL There are actually two sets of numbers one little set one big set. The big set is what is above. I am having a hard time making out the small numbers.

On the carb - all I could find is 7045504 TM 2954 It is a Rochester

Thanks for any assistance

From what I found, it is either a 1973 350 or a 1975 262. I don't know how to decipher the date code, so maybe someone else can narrow it down even further.

Here is the site:

Thanks for the assistance. The car had been in an accident and it has a salvage title. I didn't figure that the engine would be original.

I have a 76 L48 and my engine is 3970010 (your missing the zero on the end) so you have the correct block.
My block ID is "CKW" for an L48. It's odd but I have the same carburator as you, 7045504, which I already
knew was a 75 California automatic. But my car is a 4 speed and it was sold in Mississippi,
I have the invoice. I guess that must be the replacement carb somehow.
Are your heads, 333882 ? You have to remove the valve covers to see these numbers. :

I searched a little and found in many places that the carb was from 75 and one place showed 75 and 76. I will see if I can clean up the numbers on the block. Thanks again!
