Default window motors

My 81 passengers side window goes up to a certain point then stops and makes a grinding noise. I can open the door and pull it up the rest of the way and hit the switch and it will keep the window up. It does not line up correctly with the top of the jam, it sits outside the weather strip and needless to say leaks. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the gears, and/or roller guides are shot. Time for some door surgery.

theres 6 or 8 adjustments to a vette window, also the seals interior and exterior of the window if are dry rotted or gone also have an impact on the window, if any of that rubber has fell or been pulled off it will change the angle of the window causing these problems.you can buy replacements at any of the vendors for the exterior seal and it snaps in except two screws , not sure on the interior becasue i bought new door panels and the seal was built in.i saw a post here with window adjustment procedure a coupla months ago, if u don't have a book i'm sure you can do a search for that post for proper procedure, i wanna say wilcox actually had it on thier site..it may be another vendor....done slept since then

Thanks!!!! I am mechanically inclined but when it comes to something that I need to do on my own stuff I have no patience and I'll most likely break something so I will probably pay someone to repair it. Would you think I would bring this to an auto glass shop or a body shop?
