I had the '79 'Vette out for a cruise this afternoon, all was smooth and fine when all of a sudden BANG! from the rear and the back of the car sits down hard. I get the car to my Girl's place (the back tires were rubbing the wells slightly) and look underneath and I see that the leaf spring has come un-stacked, twisted slightly and has collapsed. Part of me is breathing a sigh of relief because I thought it was an axle or the rear. Any way, who has the best repalcement spring for the money? It's a small block car with a 5 speed stick shift, stock alloy wheels, used mostly on the street with occasional action at the drag strip.
Thanks!
About 40 friggin' pounds! And smoother action as well. My recommendation is the VBP dual mount. You have to pull the cross member and drill it for the mounts, but the spring rate is adjustable and you can delete the sway bar.
