Where does the exteriorpaint changes into the windshieldframe black?
Just a little question here....
The windshieldframe of my C3 was painted in satin black...
Seems to me like the same color as the engine compartment.
My first question:
If you remove the doors like I did, you have to change the color somewhere between the door sill and the windshieldframe...
The doorsill is painted in the exterior color, the windshieldframe is painted satin black.
Where was the original area where the paint changed?
My second question:
What´s the color code of the original engine compartment/windshieldframe black?
Thanks in advance, Markus

I found silver under my black frame. If I can clean it up and make it shine again, I'll keep it silver, if it looks bad I'll repaint it black. I think my car origionally had a silver frame....perhaps not.

Some C3 windshield frames were zinc chromate primer (greenish looking) and most were blacked-out with the same satin black paint used under the hood and on the door black-outs. I do not know exactly when each was used, but most of them that I've seen are black. The break is horizontal at the bottom of the front pillar weatherstrip; black above, body color below.

Someone else can chime in hear but from my former life at a GM assembly plant (12 years ago, not a corvette facility), during assembly cars were primed & dried, painted & dried and then a black sealer was applied to the window frame. My assumption would be that the sealer was applied to help the windshield adhere to the window frame. The sealer was applied with a brush that was attached to a pump.
