Default 74 vette tires

the car calls for gr70-15 which i think is a 225 60 15 but im not sure . the tire that is on my vette now is a 245 60 15 . what size tire would be best for this car or is their another size tire that would be better . It is an LS4 but i don't think that should matter unless weight would be an issue with certain size tires. And what brands would you recomend.

Welcome to the Forum. Take a second to fill out your profile so we know who you are and where you hail from. The standard tire on a '74 was a GR70-15, whether it was a small- or big-block. Today that would equate to about a 225/70R15. Beginning around '77 or '78, the optional tire became equivalent to today's 255/60R15. In order to safely fit that size tire in the wheel well's, the Corvette body technicians took a hacksaw to the lip edge around the front of the wheel well, and maybe other places as well. It looked like crap the first year it came out that way. It really isn't a problem to have it on the older years (our '74s), but it's possible that in full steering lock and hard jounce you may catch a portion of the fenderwell, possibly inside or outside. This was the reason for the butchering of the fenderwell.

Many are running the larger tires without any problems. The 245/60R15 that you currently have is also acceptable.
