Difference between front & rear rotors

I have some rotors (hub-less) sitting around,..was gonna have them checked for thickness.

But I don't know which are fronts or rears,..how can I tell the difference? Or is there a difference?

fronts have a thicker flange...part that the studs go through. I believe there is also an extra hole in the rears to adjust your parking brake.

Ahh,..yes the extra holes for servicing the e-brakes stuff. Thanks redvet.

Minimum thickness is 1.215" (DOT) If you have 1.225 you can still cut but thats cutting close.

But I wouldn’t cut C3 rear rotors. Requirements for parallelism are so tight that you’re likely to induce air pumping. I went through that pain many years ago –way before the Internet when answers weren’t so easy to come by.

Front is .388" thick, rear .250 thick

This is the hat, not the rotor itself...

Back has observation holes for the ebrake shoes...

Front has 0.100 offset of the disk toward the hat --- meaning that putting
front rotors on the back will cause the caliper to rub (slightly) against the rotor, thereby heating everything up to a super high temperature...
