I know some folks have used the ACI panels and even visited ACI's open house. Can I get some feedback on the quality of their products such as the thickness, strength and the fit and finish of their glass.
Also, does anyone know if they use polyester or epoxy resin in their products.
I installed one of their front clips on my '66 last year. It was not the expensive press molded version, so the glass was really thick and very strong in most areas. It takes quite a few fittings to the body to get everything lined up correctly around the cowl, but that may be true of all front clips. I wanted to keep the cowl drip rail connector strip together for hood alignment purposes. It would have been less complicated to get the version without the connected cowl drip strip provision. It came with a white gelcoat, and the mold separation seams were the only areas that needed finishing work.
I am not sure which product of theirs you plan to use, but my experience was favorable.
I replaced both rear quarter panels and the tail light panel on my 69 convertible with ACI panels. The quailty and fit of the panels was very good. I was very happy with the sales person I worked with and he gave me a tip that when they attend a show they offer the same discount over the phone while they are at that show. I don't know if they still offer that but they use to.
Thanks, I'm looking to use one of their one piece front ends for a '67. The sales guy couldn't tell me what resin they use so I wasn't too impressed with him. I should have asked to talk to the production shop and get some detailed info. I didn't think these guys made a pressed front end, only hand laid as far as I know.
They do have a good discount over the phone if you can not make the show right now due to Vettefest which I think is in Chicago.
