Default Need CA legal headers - 1981

Hi, as topic says, I need (OK, want) headers for my 81 in California

I have been Googling the subject and have found a couple things, but would appreciate advice, comments and specific recommendations from those who have been down this road....

Thanks in advance
Steve

If not, could you tell me more (like where to get 'em, etc.)

The description reads right, but the picture doesn't look right (it may not be the pic of the actual headers).

Hedman is the only CA legal one that I'm aware of. You'll still have to use a cat and the 2:1:2 exhaust to be completely legal, but you may get away with duals if you put cats on both. A gamble though.

You're supposed to have the air tube to the cat as well, but I'm not sure the techs even know what one is, even if the spec comes up on their screen.

These clearly state "Not Legal in Calif."

Those are the ones by description, the caption of the photo says may not be the correct image...and yes...TECHNICLY these are not CA legal, because they do not have an E.O. Number from the ARB...However, I've tested my vette 2 times at state run inspection stations and if you have ALL your emissions gear, installed and operating as intended, they dont give you any grief.

These headers dont have an EO number I'm guessing simply because Hedman doesnt want to pay for one. The hedman p/n is 68281 i think.

I've had these for almost 10 years here in CA and never had a single issue with them.

I do not doubt you. I am merely correcting an untrue statement.

Oh and you need a hot air kit to hook them up to the Air cleaner and stay legal as well.
